There are two basic elements to the standard MVD access control functionality
1.  Creating a user id and a password (this gives OVERALL access to the application).
2.  Creating roles (this gives users SPECIFIC access to certain tasks / functions);  this is optional.
Assuming that all you want to do is set up users and passwords and not use 'roles', follow these steps.
3.  In the Database Tables section, select 'Role based access control' (Step1 in the attachment).
4.  Tick to enable role based access control.  In this example, as we only want OVERALL access to the application and do not intend to use 'roles', just click 'ok' (Step2 in the attachment).
5.  Two tables (_user and  _role) are automatically created (Step3 in the attachment).
Run your application;  if this is the first time using the application, MVD will automatically create a default user (admin) with a password of 'admin'
6.  Users can be added / changed / deleted by selecting  'Options/Users' and passwords can be changed by selecting 'Options/Change Your Password. (Step4 in the attachment).
Note that MVD access control can either be set up when you first design your project or added at a later stage.
How to use 'role based access' is discussed in detail in the MyVisualDatabase manual but the above steps should be sufficient to get you started.
